Cms releases snf minimum staffing standards final rule; On april 4, 2023, the centers for medicare & medicaid services (cms) issued a proposed rule that would update medicare payment policies and rates for skilled nursing facilities under the skilled nursing facility prospective payment system (snf pps) for fiscal year (fy) 2024.

The Finalized Rule Includes The Following Key Changes:

The rule will increase payments by a net 4.0%, or $1.4 billion, in fy 2024 relative to fy 2023 levels.

The Nursing Home Minimum Staffing Rule Finalized Today Will Require All Nursing Homes That Receive Federal Funding Through Medicare And Medicaid To Have 3.48 Hours Per Resident Per Day Of Total.

The rule includes a finalized 4.0% payment increase for fy 2024, higher than what was initially proposed in april.

As Proposed In September, The Final Rule Will Require Nursing Homes To Provide A Minimum Of 3.48 Hours Of Nursing Care Per Resident Day, Including 0.55 Hours Of Care.
